Sample holder DIY

Hardware Design Guide for FluidFM Bot Sample Holders. Before using hardware please enter necessary dimensions in the plate editor plate editor.

Dimensions: Maximum Dimensions of a sample holder: X=127.5mm; Y=85.3mm, Z=21 mm, tolerance +/-0.1; Fillet of edges with 3mm radius are recommended for easier handling

Suggestion: Consider a frame (width >1mm, Z=21mm) on the sides which keeps the plate in place on the XY frame. Top view sample holder including frame (1mm)

Space accessible by FluidFM Bot In principle the XYZ stage can access every spot on the XY frame. There are some restriction though, due to the dimensions of the FluidFM Bot consumable. Please add the following safety distance from the frame to your place of interest to enable the access of the consumable. Sides:3.9mm Top:8.8mm Bottom:5.7mm

Sample surface position in z The minimum position of the sample surface would be z=0mm whereas 0mm is defined as the level of the plate support surfaces on the FluidFM Bot XY table. The maximum can be 21mm. If optical access is need then the maximum depends on the working distance of used objectives. Suggestion: For most Zeiss and Olympus objectives <3.4mm, check with your highest magnification objective used for the particular plate design. This way you have enough margin and you can also focus on the cantilever 1mm above the sample top surface when not yet in contact.

Hints: Sample should be clamped for high sensitivity measurements

Encoding: not yet supported for plates made and designed by costumers
